Bill & Emily's Musical Exploits

Hi everybody!

Columbus Day weekend is upon us, and that means one thing. . . Parades!!

The Marching Milkman Band will be playing in two parades this weekend. Our first appearance will be with Munroe Dairy at the 71st Westerly/Pawcatuck Columbus Day Parade
on Sunday, Oct 7th, at 1 PM. The whole Munroe Dairy circus will be there - the band, the antique truck, the dancing cows, and the mini-moo. We'll be in Division 9 - check us out!

Our second appearance will be at the huge 40th Autumnfest Parade in Woonsocket on Monday, Oct 8th, stepping off at 9:30 AM. Once again we will be representing Woonsocket's own Moonlight House of Wieners. We'll be in Division 6.

Hi everyone!

One of our fondest events is coming up this Saturday. The residents of Mary Carpenter's Beach in Matunuck RI have invited us again to lead their Light Parade to mark the end of
summer. This will be the 7th time the band has led the kids at sunset around the narrow magical streets of this cottage community. Though technically a private event, if you
happen to be down at the beach in Matunuck or getting ice cream at The Vanilla Bean on Saturday at 7:00 PM and hear a marching band playing, come join us!

This weekend the Marching Milkman Band will perform for the second year at the New England Quahog Festival in Wickford. We'll be representing Munroe Dairy in the annual Sea Creature Parade. The parade steps off at 12 noon this Sunday, August 26th. It's a short parade, but it ends at North Kingstown Town Beach, where there will be more music plus food and drink all day. Come join the mermaids and sea-creatures!

Hi everyone,

Coming up - the first of a few mid-summer events for the Marching Milkman Band. This
Saturday, August 11th, we will be making our second appearance at the annual Music in the
Valley concert series, starting on-stage at 5:00 PM sharp. The concert takes place at
Depot Square Park, in Hope Valley RI (next to the fire department - they'll be grilling
hamburgers for the event). Bring your folding chairs, and be sure to stick around for the
second act, our old friends the Super Chief Trio (starting at 6).

Happy July everyone!

The Marching Milkman Band will make its 15th appearance at the Fourth of July parade in Bristol this Wednesday, July 4th, rain or shine! The parade runs from 10:30 AM to about 2:30 PM. We'll be up front again this year in the Chief Marshal's Division. And we'll be supporting Munroe Dairy's parade carnival - there'll be dancing cows, big moo & mini moo milktrucks, milkmen playing tubas, trombones, and trumpets, and who knows what else.

Come join the fun and cheer us on!

Hi everyone, Happy Summer!

The Marching Milkman Band will be performing at two venues in the next week. Of course we
will be in the Bristol Fourth of July parade on Wednesday, and I will send more
information about that in a separate announcement.

But first we will be performing this Friday evening, June 29th, in Woonsocket RI, from 5
to 6 PM in Market Square and River Island Park. We will be opening the Levitt AMP summer
concert series organized by NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley. So if you head down to
40 South Main St in Woonsocket Friday at 5:00, we'll be out there to greet and serenade
and escort you down to the stage at River Island Park.

Interestingly enough, the headline band for this first concert of the series is a brass band - the Chicago-based Lowdown Brass Band.

Hello everyone!

Our first big parade of our 15th season is coming up! This Saturday, June 9th, the Munroe Dairy Marching Band will parade at the 52nd Gaspee Days Parade in Pawtuxet (Warwick/Cranston) RI. Munroe Dairy really pulls all the stops for this big, colorful event! The parade steps off at 10 AM. This year we have been moved up from the end, to Division 6! It's a very cool parade, featuring groups in authentic historic costumes (and milkmen in their whites). Come out and give us a cheer!

Bill & Emily's Not-so-Musical Exploits

Hi everyone,

It's a little too cold for a marching band to be out and about, though our first gig is coming up soon. But this notice is for a different kind of event - Emily is giving a workshop in making bread! It will take place on Saturday, April 7th, starting at 2 PM, and all you need to do is show up with your two hands and sleeves rolled up.

Emily will provide different kinds of flour for you to mix as you wish, and yeast. She'll even bring some of her sourdough (living since the turn of the century!) for you to add to your mix. You'll have a chance to learn how to work with bread dough, mixing and shaping, and in the end you will leave with shaped dough ready to pop in your own oven.

Admission is free, but there is an option to donate to help defray costs. Class size is limited. And here is the link to reserve a ticket:

The Word of Mouth Bread Workshop will take place at the NeighborWorks Cafe, Lower Level, in Woonsocket, 40 South Main St.
