Happy Holiday Season everyone!
The Munroe Dairy Marching Milkman Band will make its final appearance for the year at the 28th annual Children's Holiday Parade in Fall River. This will be our first appearance in this short and festive holiday parade which takes place this Saturday, Dec 1st. Come and cheer us on as we accompany bands, giant floating balloons, and even Santa himself! The parade steps off at 12:30 from Kennedy Park in downtown Fall River.

The Marching Milkman Band will once again make its appearance at two parades this Columbus Day weekend. On Sunday the 7th, we will be with Munroe Dairy for the Columbus Day parade on Federal Hill in Providence. It's a short parade down Atwells Ave, and it steps off at noon. Lots of fun & great food!!

Then on Monday the 8th, we will march for the 9th year in Woonsocket's 34th Autumnfest Parade. This is a huge parade that steps off at 9:30 AM. We have a NEW sponsor for this parade - Woonsocket's own Moonlight House of Wieners! We'll be in the 4th division, toward the front of the parade, so don't miss us - come cheer us on for this annual event.

And if that isn't enough, we will be marching the following weekend as the Munroe Dairy Marching Band in a brand new parade in East Providence on Saturday, Oct 13th. It's the second annual Watchemoket Square Day, and the parade will step off at 9:00 AM. We will probably stick around and play a few tunes at the festival afterwards.

We have been busy this year. Thanks to our musical director Gerry Heroux, the Marching Milkman Band performed at AS220's Foo Fest this past summer, and at a private event in Matunuck on Labor Day weekend. Gerry has put together a Facebook page for us:

Thanks to those of you who cheered us on at the Bristol parade! We had a great time. Some of you may have seen the cool photos of us in The Providence Journal the next day:
Since getting back into teaching, I have been working on a project that I had begun many years ago, back when I taught at School One. I have created a blog devoted to that project: a framework for understanding teaching, which uses the acronym SAIL (thanks Carolyn!). Thanks to all of you who have helped me on this project with your feedback. Now it's gone public, and I invite everyone to check it out.

The Munroe Dairy Marching Band will once again make its appearance at the Fourth of July parade in Bristol this Wednesday, July 4th! The parade runs from 10:30 AM to about 2:30 PM. After years of being at the end, the parade committee moved us up to the first division last year, so maybe we'll be up front again this year. Munroe Dairy has added another cow costume and a mini-monster milk truck - we're practically a whole circus now! This will be our 9th year in the parade. Come cheer us on!

This is actually an artistic exploit . . .
A painting of Emily's, called Modern Times, has been accepted into a juried show called "Statewide: Works From RISD Rhode Island Alumni." The show runs from Thursday, June 14, through Sunday, July 1st, at the Jamestown Art Center. There will be a reception Thursday evening, June 14th, from 6:30 until 9 PM. Come and celebrate the start of summer!

This Saturday, June 9th, Emily and I will march with the Munroe Dairy Marching Band in the 2012 Gaspee Days Parade in Pawtuxet (Warwick/Cranston) RI. The parade steps off at 10 AM. We are usually toward the end of the parade, finishing up around 1:30 PM. It's a very cool parade, featuring groups in authentic historic costumes (and milkmen in their whites). Come out and give us a cheer!
